Prayer

The most basic definition of prayer is "talking with God." Prayer is not meditation or passive reflection; it is directly speaking with God. It is communication of the human soul with the Lord who created the soul. Prayer is the primary way for the believer in Jesus Christ to communicate with and fellowship with the Lord God Almighty.

Philippians 4:6-7

6 do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

ACTS

Adoration

11 Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, for all that is in the heavens and in the earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom, O Lord, and you are exalted as head above all.  1 Chronicles 29:11

Confession

23 Search me, O God, and know my heart!  Try me and know my thoughts!  24 And see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting!  Psalm 139:23-24

Thanksgiving

6 do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.  Philippians 4:6-7

Supplication

2 First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, 2 for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. 3 This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.  1 Timothy 2:1-4
